About this Retreat

  • We will teach Yogasanas, a set of well thought out yoga postures, not as stretching exercises but as a complete process of employing your energies to transform how you experience life;

  • We will introduce other yogic techniques such as pranayama breathing techniques, as well as guided meditations to slow down the mind and bring balance to your whole system;

  • We will offer you time to reflect and show supporting videos for easier assimilation;

  • We will serve you wholesome home-grown organic food dishes that you will relish;

  • We will tap into the beautiful natural surroundings to get you reconnected with nature;

  • We will also go for hikes in the forest and give you plenty of opportunities to swim in the sea and the surrounding natural ponds.

This whole process will not only be healing your entire system but will have a huge impact on the very way your mind works and your body will feel completely rejuvenated.

What Yoga will I Learn

Teaching - front.jpg

We will be practicing 'Classical Hatha Yoga’ as offered by the traditional lineage and school of Isha Hatha Yoga. This method of yoga is the purest you can learn as it has not been distorted or ‘innovated upon’ in millennia. It has come through the experience of living yogic master and mystic Sadhguru, who founded the Isha Hatha School of Yoga. All teachers have been rigorously trained for over 5 months through a 1,700 hour training course to reach the necessary high standard needed for certification.

You will also be initiated into the sacred process of Bhuta Shuddhi, a cleansing of the five elements within. It is a simple ritual that brings harmony into your system, strengthening your overall constitution.

Finally, we will be adding pranayama breathing techniques and using Nada Yoga, the Yoga of Sound, to assist in balancing the system.

About Location the Venue

Andros Island - is one of the Cyclades Islands with an abundance of unspoilt beauty, just two hours from Athens by ferry. Mostly locals are holidaying there, as mainstream tourism has not been developed on the island.

ONAR ANDROS PANORAMIC.jpg

Onar - is the name of the resort where the retreat will take place which means 'dream' in ancient Greek. It is nestled in a gorgeously secluded cove on the east coast of the island and is surrounded by a protected wetlands reserve bordered by a river. Its secluded location makes it perfect for enjoying the boundless nature of this peaceful place. The building itself is quite unique with ecologically friendly accommodation and natural organic food in a welcoming atmosphere.

During the retreat you will of course have the opportunity to relax and be with nature. The venue is just a few minutes’ walk from 'Ahla Beach' which is a secluded beach, considered one of the best beaches on the island with crystal clear waters. A perfect opportunity to swim in the sea and feel the elements. You might also be tempted by snorkelling or boating.

Another advantage is the natural pond, just a short walk away, which the Ahla river flows through. It’s a place where you can have a rejuvenating swim in the middle of a forested area. We will also go around hiking in the nearby terrain, a protected wetlands reserve with beautiful hiking trails.

The Accommodation and Food

HOUSE FOR 3 PERSONS.JPG

Onar has traditionally built cottages, featuring the timeless architecture of the Cyclades, constructed exclusively with natural materials: locally sourced stone, timber and river reeds. Interiors feature minimalistic design, with natural exposed timber beams, custom-built furniture and cosy fabrics, combined with whitewashed walls and earthy colour schemes.

The venue has a comfortable feel and offers shared accommodation within individual cottages. Each house has either 1 or 2 bedrooms with as many bathrooms and living spaces.

Delicious wholesome vegetarian meals will be provided throughout the retreat. Most of the ingredients are grown organically on site. The food available will be in line with the yogic pranic diet, which will support you by being nourishing and balanced, ensuring that energy levels and mental alertness are at their optimum.

What to Expect

Firstly, its worth mentioning what this is not. So this is not your average yoga holiday where you are simply having a holiday with a yoga class in the morning. Though this has its benefits, they are usually short lived. Our retreats are known to have a long-lasting impact due to the quality and attention to detail involved. Above all, we are following a tried and tested method which goes back thousands of years.

Shining Participants from Our First Retreat

Shining Participants from Our First Retreat

This is why we favour an immersive experience to get the best out of your time here and really make a difference in the very way you think and feel. This is about making an attempt to overhaul your body, mind and energy so that you feel transformed. We don't want you to just have a break and go home but instead take what you've experienced here back with you. So by the end of the retreat, it shouldn't feel like the end but a new beginning!

Using Yoga and meditation and taking you away from your environment is a real opportunity when used properly. That's why initially the schedule for the yoga and meditation will be immersive. This is for the purpose of really working on balancing the system and slowing down the mind. Once we've worked on the system a bit, then this will create the necessary foundations to enhance the experience and deepen the benefits.

Do I Need Experience of Yoga to Attend?

This retreat does not require any prior experience and has something to offer everyone due to its distinct method. It does not require any particular flexibility or fitness. You'll work from whatever level you are and build from there. This will be a very non-competitive environment so that all you need to do is focus on you. As long as you can apply yourself, that's all that is required whether you are able to do the postures fully or not.

What They Said About Our Last Yogasanas Retreat...

“Everything about the course was planned to perfection ... a beautiful venue, amazing food, a lovely bunch of participants, and most of all, great clarity and compassion in your teaching.  I hear your voice guiding me through my practices and visualise the demonstrations” – Pauline

“I would speak to you soon, simply to say, you are a brilliant teacher. Your lessons have a lasting effect. My yoga practice continues to be good despite the odds. In my feedback I forgot an important word - A big thank you! Certainly the Yoga retreat was the best investment I have done for myself.” - Dr Shyama
