This programme includes a series of practices that help improve and maintain one's overall health, including their eyesight. It includes Upa Yoga practices (including ones not available online), Eye Care practices, and the very effective technique of Shanmukhi Mudra.
Programme Structure
This workshop will be offered in 2 sessions of 3 hours 15 minutes each, over one weekend. Both sessions will take place in the morning as follows:
- 10am-1.15pm on the Saturday, and
- 10am-1.15pm on Sunday
Upa Yoga
As part of this course you will learn the full original sequence of Isha Upa Yoga. Some Upa Yoga practices have been taught as part of the International Yoga Day and some practices are available online.
Upa Yoga are simple yet powerful practices that help deliver the benefits of yoga that most people are looking for without going into the core of yoga. In many ways it is the step before yoga or 'sub-yoga'. We will be offering the original sequence by including the missing practices not taught online or elsewhere. This will be used as a preparation for the eye practices, and put together, will yield numerous physical and mental benefits including:
Relief of physical stress, anxiety and tiredness
Strengthening of the joints and muscles
Rejuvenating the body after periods of inactivity
- Helping to build a focused mind
Eye Practices
These unique practises, devised by Sadhguru, are designed to have a phenomenal impact on the overall health and capabilities of the eyes. The practices can help correct eye problems, such as myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness) and strengthen the eye’s overall vision and focus; that can be maintained even into old age.
They are a very simple set of practices including body movements and practices directly for the eyes. It is a natural way to correct one's vision without surgery or laser treatments. The eyes have a muscular structure just like any other part of the body and, depending on the situation surrounding the eyes, can be corrected naturally provided there are no other complications. For these practices to take effect, it requires the daily practice at home and if kept up, it is very possible to improve and correct vision problems.
Shanmukhi Mudra
This is an extra practice we are including as it also has tremendous benefits for the health of your eyes as well as vision and is hugely supportive of the whole process. On top of that, Shanmukhi Mudra has other great benefits. It helps rejuvenate other parts of the face and can help with ailments in this region. Another aspect is it can help you prepare towards pratyahara or the process of turning inward by blocking off the sensory perception of the human being. It is a great support towards meditative practices as it helps to enhance one's awareness. It is particularly beneficial for those suffering from Tinnitus or Vertigo.
Who is it Suitable for?
This programme is for adults (18+) and can be attended by anyone including those with no yoga experience. It is particularly beneficial for those with vision problems but can be attended by anybody who wants to maintain there vision. Especially those who work in front of screens most of the day, these practices can help negate the problems these situations can cause both for the eyes and the rest of the body.
