Surya Kriya in Ireland, Kerry

The Hatha Yoga Effect are proud to announce the first ever Isha Yoga programme in Ireland. We'll be offering the sacred Isha Hatha Yoga practice of Surya Kriya in Castleisland, County Kerry in the valley of the River Maine.

The programme will take place over 2 sessions over the weekend:

  • First session - 2pm-5.15pm, Saturday 25th September
  • Second session - 10am-1.15pm Sunday 26th September
    • Please Note: Attendance is required for both sessions

The programme will take place at the River Island Hotel in Castleisland in beautiful County Kerry. Accommodation is available at the hotel for a special rate of €70 per room for those attending the course. If you wish to share the room with someone and split the cost with someone else, let us know and we'll pair people up appropriately if its possible.

What is Surya Kriya?

The practice of Surya Kriya was traditionally available only to select groups of yogis, Surya Kriya is being offered through Sadhguru's willingness to bring back this powerful practice as a comprehensive spiritual practice that is ideal for the hectic pace of today’s world.

Up until now, Surya Namaskar was offered publicly offered. When those who knew the practice saw a need to to help the masses, they could not offer Surya Kriya in its most potent form so they taught Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) which has less potency spiritually but can still offer the benefits of balancing the system.

“Surya” means “sun,” and “kriya” means “inner energy process.” Surya Kriya activates the solar plexus to raise the samat prana, or solar heat, in the system. It also balances a person’s left and right energy channels, leading to stability of the body and stillness of the mind.
