What is the Hatha Yoga Wellnes Retreat?

This Retreat is about feeling good naturally, through strengthening the vital energy system. All techniques learnt are very simple and easy to incorporate into your daily life and are therefore particularly suited to those who have a busy lifestyle.

Using the understanding of Isha Hatha Yoga, this retreat focuses on one’s overall wellbeing through Hatha Yoga, Guided Meditations and various other yogic techniques such as Jela Nethi. This effective combination of techniques can greatly enhance your physical and mental wellbeing.

This Retreat is for anyone 18 and over and is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners. With the emphasis being on improving wellness, this retreat is ideally suited for those with a busy lifestyle as it offers a refreshing pause from day-to-day stresses as well as practical techniques which can be incorporated into your life to keep the effects of the retreat even after you go back.

I've already learnt Surya Kriya, so how will this benefit me?
Surya Kriya works on many more levels than we realise. The combination of practices in this retreat will help you to go much deeper into the practice. Sadhguru has mentioned that there are different levels of Surya Kriya and that it is a practice that can be done with different levels of awareness. Here we are creating an ideal opportunity for you to take your practice further.

We'll be returning to the the tranquil surroundings of the West Lexham Estate – a sustainable retreat centre in the heart of the Norfolk countryside within easy reach of London by train or car; providing the perfect ambience to re-establish oneself in health and vitality. Participants will be hosted in cosy comfortable cottage accommodation and will be served delicious wholesome vegetarian food throughout (organic where possible).  The food available will will be in line with the yogic pranic diet which will support by being nourishing and boasting energy levels.

Please note: All rooms are either twin or double shared rooms with shared bathrooms situated in a converted heritage building.

More About the Practices

Surya Kriya

 “Surya” means “Sun,” and “kriya” means “inner energy process.” Surya Kriya is one of our most powerful and potent practices and is the original form of the more well known Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). Traditionally available only to select groups of yogis, Surya Kriya is being offered by Sadhguru as a comprehensive spiritual practice that is ideal for the hectic pace of today’s world. It is designed as a holistic process for health, wellness and complete inner wellbeing. It activates the solar plexus within the system and balances a person’s energies, leading to stability of the body and stillness of the mind and this will be the strong basis in which we can build upon to create an uplifting experience Surya Kriya includes several aspects that enrich one’s life:

  • Develops mental clarity and focus

  • Remedies weak constitutions

  • Boosts vigor and vitality

  • Balances hormonal levels in the body

  • Prepares one for deeper states of meditation

Jala Neti

Jala Neti is a simple cleansing practice that if done properly can bring about tremendous physical, psychological and spiritual benefits. Jalanethi has been practiced by yogis for centuries. The practice offers relief for a number of physical ailments that include asthma, disorders of the sinuses, allergies (including hay fever), rhinitis, migraine and headaches. Above all, most importantly, it calms and activates the nervous system effectively and serves as a perfect preparation for one’s daily practice of hatha yoga. During the retreat we will be teaching the practice of Jalanethi and each participant will receive their own Jala Neti pot. Benefits of Jala Neti are:

  • Neurologically, it brings a certain dynamism and, at the same time, a certain tranquility.
  • Helps with diseases of eyes, nose and throat region – relieving cold, allergies and sinusitis

  • Removes excess mucus and pollutants from nasal passages and sinuses

  • Relieves insomnia, tiredness and improves quality of sleep

  • Prevents and helps with respiratory tract diseases like asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis etc

  • Relieves migraine, headache, anxiety and helps in releasing stress thereby bringing tranquility

Eye Care Yoga

These unique practises, devised by Sadhguru, are designed to have a phenomenal impact on the overall health and capabilities of the eyes. Suitable for all (regardless of whether you have a sight problem) the practices can help correct eye problems, such as myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness) and strengthen the eye’s overall vision and focus and maintain that even into old age.
