What are Yogasanas and What They Are Not

Poses_21 YA.jpg

Yogasanas are the more commonly known as ‘Yoga Postures’. When we mention the word ‘Yoga’ most people immediately think of Yogasanas. Unfortunately, this has been misinterpreted by many as stretching or other exercises. It has lost touch with its original purpose and possibility of transforming the individual to reach their true potential.

Many of us live our lives very unconsciously and get into bad habits, whether its eating too much, procrastination or just take our mind off things by using distractions such as Social Media. Unfortunately this leads to a drop in awareness which slowly leads a build up of stress and an uncontrollable mind.

How Does Yogasnasas Help?

Yogasanas can be a tool to raise our consciousness to increase awareness of how we live. Not just through training our minds but directing our energies properly and following a system which is in line with the human system. Though this will only work if it is taught and practiced properly. As this is a subtle process, even the smallest of details make a big difference.

Why Isha Hatha Yoga? Is it Different From Other Hatha Yoga?

Isha Hatha Yoga is what is known as 'Classical Hatha Yoga'. So we are able to offer Yogasanas in its classical form. This means you will learn Yogasnas in its purest form. Originally all yoga was maintained through an ancient method of transmitting yoga in a very careful way to maintain its integrity without a minute distortion. Maintaining the purity of the practice essentially means accessing the original blueprints perceived by the yogis of the yore. These are the methods they used to master their own system to go beyond their limitations. By learning these Yogasanas and receiving them through the classical method, allows that same opportunities for those who receive and regularly practice.

"There are various levels of doing asanas. You can practice asanas just physically, or more deeply, being aware of the breath, sensations, reverberations..." - Sadhguru

More About this Workshop, Why a Yogasana Starter Workshop?

IMG_4076.jpg

Usually when you learn Yogasnanas it should be taught and practiced as what is known as a 'complete sequence'. Otherwise it can lead to a certain disjointedness of the system. Unfortunately incomplete sequences are quite common in the yoga world as this is another aspect of yoga which is largely absent in the world.

The Isha Yogasanas workshop is usually a full weekend to learn the complete sequence but in many cases people often feel its too much to take on in one go so now we have received a way of delivering a complete sequence which is much shorter and easier to take on. This will allow you to step in and try the method as well as seeing how to fit this into a routine in your own life as a home practice. Then once you feel you have reached a certain point with this, then it will be easier to take on the rest of the Yogasanas sequence.

Sadhguru (Founder of Isha Hatha Yoga) speaks about Yogasanas
