Your breath is the most important component in the yogic system. It not only keeps you alive but how you breathe and quality of breath determines every aspect of how you are. Most yogic practices use the breath as way to address so many issues but if you don’t take care of the breath itself then it can also reduce the quality of your practice and well-being.

An allergic reaction occurs when a person’s immune system reacts to an otherwise harmless substance in the environment. There are many types of allergies existent today, and some that cause the highest discomfort are related to the nose and eyes. Sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma and similar chronic ailments are extremely common, especially in industrialized urban environments.

People suffering from these conditions are found to have allergic inflammation and sensitivity throughout the nasal airways, due to contact with allergens such as dust or pollen. Allergic rhinitis alone affects 10% to 30% of adults and 40% of children worldwide. As anyone suffering from the symptoms of allergies – itchy eyes, running nose, phlegm, constant sneezing and breathing difficulties – would agree, this significantly impacts the quality of everyday life.

What is Jala Neti?

Today many people describe Jala Neti as a cleansing process for the nasal passages to remove mucus. Whilst it is true that Jala Neti is a very effective cleansing process, it is much more than that. Jala Neti has been practiced by yogis for millennia as a process of looking after the whole system and not just the sinuses.  The human respiratory system is very closely connected with the neurological system and also the energy system. So that's why in the yogic system many more benefits are described but only if it is practiced properly. There are many people who practice improperly and over time this can also damage the nasal passage which reduces ones sense of smell.

Jala Neti can dramatically improve your physical and psychological health as well as bringing an incredible sense of ease in your yogic or other spiritual practice. In many ways it serves as a perfect preparation for one’s daily practice of hatha yoga.

During the class we will be teaching the proper way to practice Jala Neti. It is a delicate process, which if done improperly can either reduce the benefit or can even cause irreparable damage. Each participant has the opportunity receive their own Jala Neti pot. This pot has been designed by Sadhguru and made of copper to maximise the benefits of the practice. If you already have this pot then you can just book for the class without the pot.

Isha Bhastrika Kriya

  • Increases Lung capacity

  • Purifies the blood (also has an impact on how you breathe)

  • Deep state of relaxation to the point of lowering number of breathes

  • Helps to relieve respirator diseases such as Asthma, Sinusitis and other allergies

  • Can help to relieve Diabetes, Hormonal Imbalances, Skin diseases

What is Bhastrika Kriya?

Bhastrika Kriya is a yogic process which has an immediate impact on the respiratory system. It reduces the need for the number of breaths. The need for breath will not come down only by increasing lung capacity but because the oxygen consumption is low. The system is in such a relaxed state, the metabolism has come don. So this works in two ways: the expansion of the lung capacity; and the relaxing of the whole system. With both of these together, the need for breaths come down.

This also has an impact on overall health too as well as assisting to improve other yoga practices in both Hatha and Kriya Yoga.
